I ran into a younger Korean guy by chance today. He was doing his orientation, which surprised me. He is my second Korean friend here in Australia, and he starts work next weekend.
Anyway, work was quite easy today, but I still feel like my English skills are lacking. I had to work overtime, so my supervisor, Toby, told me to get my new clothes and keep them with me. I didn't quite understand, so I accidentally changed into them instead! I felt like such an idiot.
After my regular shift, I started the overtime. I was so nervous because it was a new task with new people. They spoke to me in English, but I couldn't respond very well. We moved to the ice warehouse; my job was assembling boxes and assisting with packaging. It was very easy work, but incredibly cold!
During our break, we had pizza, and it was delicious. When we got back to work, we waited for a while and then moved cow tongues. We finally finished at 7:30 PM.
I also met another new Korean worker by accident. I usually say "Sorry" out of habit, but when I saw him, I accidentally said "죄송합니다" (Joesong-hamnida) in Korean. He asked, "Are you Korean?" and I said yes. He was very nice and asked me how the job was. I told him it was fine. He's actually a nurse and is currently getting his nursing license transferred here. We exchanged phone numbers.
After that, I gave three Taiwanese colleagues a lift home before finally getting back to my place.
